8/9, 565kg @ U83kg, Second best overall lifter of the day
Squat: 180kg❌ , 185kg , 190kg

565kg training total @ U83kg taking Silver in the U83kg Category and getting second best lifter on the day out of 20 very solid lifters in his first ever comp only losing to a GB level athlete.
with just a 7 week prep we took Stephen from:
180kg Squat
140kg Touch and Go Bench
230kg Hitched and not locked Deadlift
Excellent work to break bad past habits and get PB's on every lift to competition standard.
North West Christmas Spectacular 2022
8/9, 587.5kg @ 83kg, 1st place in U83kg class
S: 190kg, 200kg, 205kg (+15kg PB)
B: 125kg, 132.5kg, 137.5kg ❌ (-2.5kg)
D: 240kg, 250kg (+10kg PB), 262.5kg
+ 22.5kg Comp PB.
Our goals for Stevies in second comp of the 2022 were:
-
to qualify for BUCS
-
smash his previous total
-
push for the 600kg total if it was there
We managed 2/3 with a huge 22.5kg added to his total from his first comp in March and even took home the win as a bonus! But just fell short of the 600kg.
A technical mistake with a head lift on the third bench meant we had to send it big on the third deadlift.
After 250kg for his second flew we went for 262.5kg on the third with nothing to lose after already securing BUCS qualification and the win.
It wasn’t quite there on the day but he gave it a great fight! He still had the biggest deadlift of the day.
I’m very proud of Stevie’s leap into PL this year. Starting out with me he had about a 530kg Training total (of somewhat comp standard lifts) and has added 57.5kg to that on the platform this year.

Liverpool Varsity 2023
This competition was used as part of Stevies prep for BUCS in April 2023. Using it like a training SBD day as part of his peak.
Going 9/9, taking RPE 7 singles on Squat (197.5kg) and Deadlift (247.5kg) and only maxing out on Bench to secure the illusive 140kg on the platform for confidence.
This is a great marker of his progress hitting just 2.5kg less than his Comp best with sub max Squats and Deadlifts, without even being peaked.
With this we knew 600kg was going to fall comfortably at BUCS in a few weeks time.
7/9, 607.5kg @U83kg
S: 190kg ❌, 195kg, 207.5kg (+2.5kg PB)
B: 127.5kg, 135kg ❌, 135kg
D: 240kg, 255kg, 265kg (+15kg PB)
+ 20kg PB Total PB and breaking the 600kg Barrier
Started off shaky forgetting to lock the knees on his first squat getting a no lift. Kept his head, added 5kg and nailed it on his second. Took a big 12.5kg jump on his third for 207.5kg and got it 2-1 good lift. 2.5kg comp and lifetime PB.
Bench was weird. First attempt was fine, little slower than normal but took the 7.5kg jump to 135kg which has been routine for Stevie for a while now. There was a mishap in his press which caused him to need to grind and then got reds for downward movement. I was nervous at this point but again he kept his head and moved 135kg on his third attempt like a second attempt.
Then Deadlift….we knew this was going to come in clutch. He had moved 260kg 1.5 weeks out at RPE 8 max. Made smart jumps and smoked his 265kg third for a +15kg Comp PB and +5kg lifetime PB to complete the day.
A year ago Stevie had a 530kg Gym total having never competed before. 1 Year and 4 comps later he hits 607.5kg on the platform. 77.5kg in one year is ridiculous progress and it’s all down to his hard graft, coachability and dedication.
Whilst also giving me the pleasure of becoming the first ever 600kg lifter of my Career.
